Sharmeleon is known and famous for being a Canadian YouTuber who has been vlogging about her experiences in Japan since 2011. The full and real name of the young Canadian YouTuber is considered to be Sharla Katalin Hinskens,  however she is more famous for her pseudonym Sharmeleon or as SHarla in Japan. This Canadian YouTUber was born back on April 23, 1986 and according to the astrologists the birth sign of Sharmeleon is Taurus.

 

Sharla, who goes only by her first name, grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. Her first visit to Japan was when she was 17 years old, as an exchange student between the sister cities Victoria and Morioka. She worked in Tokyo at age 19 as an English teacher, and went back to Canada in 2010. When the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake hit, she moved back to Japan, due to stress from being in Canada and far away from her friends. Around this time she started vlogging her daily life. Her videos, including topics where she discusses what she likes about Japan, were well received with foreign viewers interested in the country.

 

The young influencer has translated the films Shin Godzilla (2016) and Terra Formars (2016) for the English subtitles, and also served as a dialogue coach assistant. Since 2019, she has collaborated with YouTuber Chris Broad and participated in his series Journey Across Japan. She has also partnered with local governments and organizations to promote local specialties.

 

The young YouTuber Sharla started uploading to what is now the Sharla in Japan channel in 2011 and Sharmander (now Sharmeleon) in 2013. She eventually switched them: currently, Sharmeleon is dedicated to edited videos while Sharla in Japan is dedicated to livestreams, and she considers the former to be her main channel and the latter to be her side channel despite it being older. Sharla joined this platform and created her channel back on May 16, 2013 and currently people can find on her YouTube channel literally anything connected to Japan, starting from their lifestyle, her daily vlogs and ending with pranks and funny content. As of May 2022 the YouTube channel of Sharmeleon has more than  723 thousand subscribers. There are about 550 uploaded videos and more than 97 million total number of views.  

Sharla is from Victoria, British Columbia. She has family from the Netherlands and Hungary. She began learning Japanese at the age of 13. She has 2 degrees as well as a qualification in tourism. She first visited Japan as an exchange student at 17 in Morioka and later to teach English before officially moving to Tokyo. The influencer lived in Korea for a time but ended up moving back to Japan, this time back to Morioka. She was in a long term relationship with and married Keyboard San, but they later separated. Also Sharla has vitiligo.
