Yan Pritzker

Yan Pritzaker is the co-founder and CTO of SWAN Bitcoin. Yan spent the last twenty years as a software developer and as an entrepreneur focusing on tech startups. His most recent company, Reverb, was acquired by Etsy back in 2019. Yan Pritzker is also an author. He wrote a book called “ Inventing Bitcoin”, which is the best technical book for beginners, it gives talks on Bitcoin related topics ranging from the importance of Bitcoin as a tool for freedom to the technical details of how Bitcoin works.

 

 

Fact about Yan: Pritzker knows four languages, they are English, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese.

 

Pritzker studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

 

Yan Pritzker is an inheritor of a famous family of Pritzker. The Pritzker family is an American family engaged in entrepreneurship and philanthropy, and of the wealthiest families in the United States of America. Since 1982, The Pritzker family has stayed in the top 10 of Forbes magazine’s “ America’s richest families” list. Family members own Hyatt hotel corporation, and also owned the Marmon Group, a conglomerate of manufacturing and industrial service companies.  Their holdings also have included the Superior Bank of Chicago, which collapsed in 2001, the TransUnion credit bureau, Braniff airlines, McCall’s magazine and the Royal Caribbean cruise line. This family is of Jewish descent, and based in Chicago, Illinois.

 

A little about Yan’s work experience. Back in 1996 he trained individuals and small groups in three to six months intensive learning sessions during which time they were taught programming concepts, Visual Basic, Oracle, and Access.

 

From 1998 to 200, while in high school, he founded and led an open source project to build a quantum computing simulator. Gained exposure on slashdot, leading to a 200 person mailing list.

 

In 2000, Yan developed an online university course authoring and deployment platform to translate static content into dynamic, interactive web-based courses. This was a summer internship during 3 years of college, leading to a full time job in 2004.

 

Back in 2006, Yan became the founder and CEO of Planypus.

Planypus is a Wiki for your social life. It enables you to quickly and collaboratively organize outings, trips, or get-togethers. Yan founded and led a team of five to develop this company as a part-time venture, working nights and weekends. After some period of time, Yan developed a white-label platform product and an advertising engine, after sold the product to a number of media companies.

 

In 2012, Yan Pritzker started and led development of Reverb.com from the tech side. Developed initial Rails codebase and cloud architecture, hired a notch dev team, managed external devs and consultants to build mobile apps and API integrations, and helped grow company to top 500 most trafficked in the US and around $400M in sales. He developed a cloud infrastructure team and implemented best practices in scalability and security in AWS.

 

In December 2019, Pritzker became the co-founder and CTO of Swan Bitcoin, which is the best way to save Bitcoin on a recurring basis.
