Grace Bonney

Grace Bonney was born on June 9, 1981. Her horoscope sign is Gemini, this sign is the third in the list. Geminis are volatile beings that are inquisitive, intelligent and they are great thinkers. Design*Sponge focuses on the creative community, with the goal of making the art and design world personal. Their team does not only cover beautiful homes, objects and trends, but rather the people who are behind them, along with their difficulties, struggles and real life concerns. As the team of Design*Sponge believed the idea of “Home” is one that stretches beyond furniture  inside it, so they decided, from time to time, to have discussions about larger cultural issues that affect their community. No one gets left behind or ignored in their community, which means that on Design*Sponge everybody can feel free and comfortable talking about anything with anyone from different backgrounds. Grace has a great experience in this industry as she worked as a contributing editor at Domino, House and Garden and Craft magazines, and as the author of a weekly design column for the Philadelphia Inquirer and as Style Editor of HGTV’s Ideas Magazine.

 

In 2018, Bonney was named as one of The Frederick Douglass 200 by the Guardian, a list of about 200 people who best embody the spirit and work of Frederick Douglass. She was also called a “ Martha Stewart for Millennials” by The New York Times and was named a Top Home Influencers of 2017 by Forbes Magazine. She has been a featured guest on Good Morning America, The Nate Berkus Show, The Martha Stewart Show, NBC’s The Chew, Martha Stewart Radio Show, American Public Radio, and also Marie Forleo TV.

 

Grace Bonney also has been a keynote speaker with various organizations ranging from design schools and trade organizations to design guilds and national corporations like Oracle, Target, BlogHer, Ann Taylor, Blogtacular and many others.

 

Back in 2008, she founded D*S Biz Ladies Series, which began as a national series of meetups for women running creative businesses. The series took place at Weekly Column on the site where business owners can receive free advice and guidance on setting up and growing their businesses.
