April Benayoum is a French model and beauty queen born in Aix-en-Provence ( Bouches-du-Rhône ). She was elected Miss Pays d’Aix 2020, then Miss Provence 2020, succeeding Lou Ruat, then inDecember 2020becomes the first runner-up to Miss France 2021 , Amandine Petit . She becomes Miss World France 2021 and participates in the 70th edition of the Miss World contest where she ranks in the top 13.
April Benayoum was born on March 16, 19992 in Aix-en-Provence , in the Bouches-du-Rhône 3, of a father Didier, warrant officer-chief of the grandmother in the brigade of Éguilles of Israeli-Italian origin and a mother Nelly, supervisor in a college , of Serbo-Croatian origin . Her grandmother, Georgette Ivaldi was Miss Marseille in the 1950s.

She arrives on equal points with Amandine Petit after the merger of the rankings of the votes of the jury and the public. However, in the event of a tie on points between finalist candidates, the Miss France 2021 regulations provided for giving the advantage to “the one who obtained the best ranking in the viewers’ vote”. Thus, April Benayoum finished second in the competition . April Benayoum, Miss Provence 2020 and runner-up to Amandine Petit , was targeted on election day by numerous anti-Semitic comments on social networks after revealing that her father was of Israeli origin . Amandine Petit judges “extremely disappointing” these “inappropriate remarks” aimed at her runner-up, to whom she brings her “support”. Many politicians including the Minister of the Interior and the LICRA condemn this hatred. She receives many supports including those of Éric Ciotti , LR deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes, Christian Estrosi , mayor of Nice, Renaud Muselier , president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region or Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior. Subsequently, Marlène Schiappa took legal action under article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure . In September 2021, eight people were tried for these anti-Semitic messages, the offense retained being aggravated insult.
