Duplicate content is just that… a scraped or mimicked version of another website’s content. This can often cause a very negative impact on your SEO as Google recognizes the similarities between using parallel backlinks and having the same information repeated. In cases like this, copy websites can end up both brewing ranked lower in the search engine due to Google’s inability to distinguish which is better or worse. Some tools to help ensure you don’t create duplicate content are using a 301 direct, or the Rel=”canonical” attribute which are suggestions by Google.
