API – or Application Programming Interface explains the mesmerizing complexity of all our apps and technologies seemingly “innate” knowledge.
API’s are what allow programmers to connect information from different sources and systems together to allow access and expedite the process of receiving data that is already available through another source. These examples are seen when we use our phone’s weather app (which is getting the stats from The Weather Channel), or when we allow access to our location or log in to our Google account…. All of these services connect data from one site and system to another to allow for more accessibility and functionality.
The types of access and protocols for APIs can be very complex depending on the company or necessity, however, they are extremely useful and could be understood better through the following video.
